About Us
Gii Gaba Aboriginal Corporation began with a simple question: What can we do?
For many years, we found ourselves having the same yarns. We would sit together talking about wellbeing for Aboriginal people in the Blue Mountains, sharing what was happening in our own lives, listening to the experiences of family, friends and community, and wondering how we could make things better.
The conversations often ended with more questions than answers.
Where can we go? How can we feel better? What can we do?
Then one day, Lana and Aunty Elly had a different kind of yarn. Instead of waiting for someone else to create the support our community needed, we asked ourselves:
Why don't we create something ourselves?
If not now, when? If not us, who?
That conversation became the beginning of Gii Gaba Aboriginal Corporation.
In late 2025 and early 2026, we brought together like-minded people who shared the same vision. Together, we formed a Board, developed our Constitution, registered with ORIC, and began building an Aboriginal organisation grounded in Culture, community and wellbeing.
Since then, we have been steadily laying the foundations for the future. We have developed our strategic plan, clarified our purpose, vision and values, established governance and policies, considered our risk appetite, built our identity, and continued shaping the organisation we believe our community deserves.
We are still growing, and this is only the beginning.
The name Gii Gaba comes from the Gomeroi language and means Good Heart (Gii meaning heart and Gaba meaning good). It reflects who we are and how we want to work—with kindness, compassion, integrity and heart at the centre of everything we do.
We invite you to walk alongside us as we continue to grow into an organisation that supports Aboriginal people and families through culturally grounded pathways to wellbeing, now and for generations to come.

We design and deliver culturally grounded programs and services that strengthen social, emotional, cultural and community wellbeing. Our work is shaped by Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing, and responds to the aspirations and priorities of our communities.

Providing culturally informed strategic advice, governance support, and practical guidance to organisations, communities, and leaders to strengthen decision-making, partnerships, and outcomes for Aboriginal peoples.

We facilitate culturally grounded Yarning Circles that foster connection, healing, learning and collective wellbeing. Through shared stories, reflection and respectful dialogue, participants strengthen relationships, cultural identity and resilience in a safe and supportive environment.

Strong partnerships create stronger outcomes for our communities. We work alongside Aboriginal communities, organisations, government, and the broader sector to build respectful, culturally safe relationships that create lasting impact. Our approach is based on trust, shared responsibility, and genuine collaboration, ensuring Aboriginal voices, knowledge, and aspirations remain at the centre of every partnership.
